It brings great medicine from an ancient people to heal the troubles of our modern day world. The word is a "pointing". It tells us to "turn". It tells us to turn our attention, 180 degrees, toward the "awareness" of attention itself. As Socrates said, "know thyself"; and as Christ said, "heaven is within". "Wakamaw" gives us direction to "turn" our attention inward, toward what does the seeing from "behind" our own eyes. Ask, "Who is the seer?" Great wisdom is found here!

"Wakamow" is the name of the valley where flows "The River of Turns", the original home of Captain Jack's river boat tour. Although the word was spelt "W-a-k-a-m-o-w", the Cree language was a spoken language and sounds "Wak-a-maw". Amazingly, the medicine to dissolve all problems is contained in this simple, three syllable sound which points the way. Our native ancestors are the custodians of total knowledge of Natural Law as expressed here in. For this treasured message that has been so graciously shared, on behalf of all who made the "turn" aboard our good ship "Margaret", Captain Jack gives thanks to the Cree people. Thank you for the eternal unbounded experience. "I want to take as many people with me as I possibly can, because the feeling is amazing!"

To view comedian Jim Carrey's expression of the "turn" experience, "Who is it, that is aware that I am thinking?" Click this link. It came to be a labor of love both fitting and sailing this ship and so the Captain's sister thought the boat ought to be named after their mother, in honor of all mothers and mother's love, in whose arms we first come to know love, and so it was. The boat was dedicated on her birthday, August 10, 2002, and named the "Margaret".

Margaret made the magical transformation that waits for us all in March of 2009. She loved the boat ride, and though some say we must die to go to heaven, our Captain says, "We are all ready here. We've always been here, we will always be here, and there is no place else to go." Yes we can get to heaven in a little row boat, and may this heaven's peace always be with mothers. In her later years Margaret used a walker and a wheel chair and Captain Jack was glad to have built a wheel chair lift on board.

This is where it began, with the love of a work in his heart. Where it will end, we can not know. This is the fun part. The River of turns is a metaphor for life, we never know what will come round the next bend in the river, and we will never step into the same river twice.

There is a true story here to tell, and it may be worth the telling. Truth is like a boat that can float us to the other side. It can carry us away from the shores of false concepts we have come to believe, beyond, to where our own true nature awaits our awakening.

This is still just a story though, and it won't make a ripple of difference on the ocean of what is. The truest Truth is spoken in the silence of the deep. It will never be found on the surface in a wave of a word or thought. But this does not mean that "Truth" can not be pointed at, and in the valley of the River of Turns we find the pointing. It tells us to "turn", to turn in the direction found between the sounds of the syllables in the silent gaps of "wak-a-maw".

Wakamaw is a Cree Indian term taken to name the valley surrounding Captain Jack's cruise, and there is healing medicine in this sound that echos from the steep river banks. It gives direction to the attention in our awareness to "turn" away from the creation that is seen, toward that which does the seeing from behind the eyes, within. It points to the seer from the seen, to the know-er from the known, to the subjective self from the objective self. A simple pointing, one word, turn, 180 degrees ........ "wakamaw".

Socrates pointed likewise when he advised, "Know thyself". Jesus pointed to the "kingdom within" and Lao Tzu pointed to "The Way". The native Cree people of this medicine advised, "wakamaw". Turn and find out who you really are.

On Captain Jack's river tour, "You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around, that's really what its all about."

Whether you just want a boat ride or you want to discover the deepest level of your own true nature, this is the trip to take. Leave your camera at home, the tour is not a photo shoot to "capture" a moment that can not be captured. Its not about the "future" when we may look back at our photos of the "past" to say I was there; its about being here now.

To be continued .........
